Hampden County Mesh

Website, map, and Discord are live

Hampden County Mesh is now up and running online. The website and guides are ready, the live map and activity analyzer are working, and the Discord server is open.

The live map shows MeshCore activity observed through participating systems. It may be quiet at times while local activity and coverage are still growing, but the basic system is in place and working.

Our next step is local outreach. We are beginning to contact property owners, businesses, radio clubs, libraries, and other community organizations about two things:

  • Legal locations that may be able to host a small mesh node
  • Places that may be interested in hosting a beginner-friendly seminar or workshop

These nodes are small, low-power radio devices. A useful location does not necessarily mean tower space. Depending on the site, a building, roof, fence post, existing mast, or another approved outdoor location may be enough to help improve coverage.

The seminars would be aimed at people who are new to mesh radio. They could cover what MeshCore and Meshtastic are, what the devices can do, how someone can get started, and how local coverage can grow over time.

Hampden County Mesh is a volunteer-run community project. You do not need radio experience or technical knowledge to take part. Help with outreach, testing, documentation, events, and finding possible host locations is all useful.

To learn more, offer a possible location, discuss hosting a seminar, or help with the project, email contact@hampdencountymesh.org or join the Discord.
